The Deauville CPEDI*** : fast approaching !

The Pôle International du Cheval is preparing to welcome the elite of international paradressage riders for the 7th edition of the Deauville CPEDI***. From the 31st March to the 2nd of April, this event, which has become unmissable for para-equestrian dressage athletes, will receive 53 couples representing the colours of 18 nations !

Winners of the Nations Cup here in 2016, and team gold at the last Paralympic Games, Great Britain will again be making the trip with 8 of their top athletes. Amongst them, one of the pillars of the team, Sophie Wells, who will be aiming for a new victory in Grade V (formerly Grade IV) with C Fatal Attraction.
Netherlands and Ireland, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at the Deauville CPEDI in 2016, are also eagerly awaited. Note the presence of two Dutch riders who particularly shone at Rio being members of the bronze medal winning team, Nicole Den Dulk and Rixt Van Der Horst.

Strengthened by its success, the Deauville CPEDI*** will be welcoming for the first time three new nations : Uruguay, the Czech Republic and Portugal. As for Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Latvia and Russia, they will be making their return to the white boards at Deauville.

On the side of the home nation, France, 8 will be in the starting blocks. Some bringing their regular rides, like Léa Sanchez and Thibault Stoclin in Grade I, entered with Rhapsodie ENE-HN and Uniek, respectively. Amandine Mazzoni will be making her international debut with Pomme du Bois Noir (Grade III), and the experienced José Letartre will be in the saddle on Swing Royal ENE-HN (Grade IV).
But the weekend will also be the opportunity to discover 4 new French couples. In Grade IV, Vladimir Vinchon and Samuel Catel will be presenting Richardz du Loing and Smart du Hans, respectively. It will be the very first CPEDI*** for the young Camille Jaguelin with the mare Wimke (Grade IV), and Céline Gerny will be trying to beat the opposition in Grade II with her new partner Landiro.

For this new edition, the organizing association Handi Equi’ Compet will be committed to conveying the solid values of para-equestrianism, namely surpassing oneself, determination, respect and equity. The association also wishes to increase the visibility of this amazing sport by attracting a bigger and wider audience.

Astonishing classes, horses and riders from the four corners of the globe, a warm and convivial atmosphere... Great moments of sport and plenty of emotion should be expected from these three days on Normandy soil !
