Follow the news and results of the 2016 CPEDI*** of Deauville

The Deauville CPEDI*** and the Handi Equi’ Compet association welcomed today the Individual Championship Test, the second crucial half of the Nation’s Cup.

It was without surprise that the British team, led by its brilliant lady quartet, won yet again this highly coveted title with an average score of 73.597 %. The team comprised of Sophie Christiansen, Sophie Wells, Anne Dunham and Deborah Criddle, showed a superior technical ability allowing them to stand out from the competition.
Great performances from The Netherlands who climbed onto the second step of the podium with 70.329 %. They were represented by Rixt Van Der Horst, Nicole Den Dulk, Lotte Krijnsen and Demi Vermeulen.
Third place went to Ireland, their team members being Helen Kearney, Rosemary Gaffney, Kate Kerr Horan and James Dwyer, finishing on an average score of 67.595 %.

CHECKMATE FOR SOPHIE WELLS
The Grade IV opened this Saturday’s Individual Championships test. Sophie Wells left her rivals with little chance taking yet again gold and silver in this class with her two rides Valerius (74.976 %) and C Fatal Attraction (72.381 %). Will the British rider complete a hat trick by taking the two first places in tomorrow’s Freestyle ?
The podium stayed the same as in yesterday’s team test with Line Kongensgaard and Laponio for Denmark taking the third place with a score of 68.952 %

PHILIPPA JOHNSON-DWYER MAINTAIN THE GAP

The Grade III also saw an identical trio head the lead board as in Friday’s team test. It was the South-African Philippa Johnson-Dwyer riding Lord Louis who headed the line up with a score of 71.268 %, which was more or less the same as the previous day (71.289 %). This consistency is a quality of this duo.
Excellent performances from Australia represented by Katie Umback and The Netherlands, represented by Lotte Krijnsen who rode tests scoring 70,553 % and 69,263 % respectively taking the second and third places on the podium.

PEPO PUCH TAKES THE LEAD IN GRADE Ib
The very popular Pepo Puch inversed yesterday’s trend and took first place in the Individual Championship with a test that seduced the Jury (76.793 %). « It’s Fontainenoir the champion, not me », he stated as he dismounted from his horse at the end of the test. Second and third place were taken by Dutch riders thanks to the performances of yesterday’s winner Estée Gerritsen (73.138 %) and Nicole Den Dulk (70.414 %). The three riders will be battling it out tomorrow in the freestyle to offer the public a great show.

SOPHIE CHRISTIANSEN YET AGAIN

No changes in the Grade Ia line up during the individual championship test as Sophie Christiansen (GRB), Laurentia Tan (SIN) and Anne Dunham (GRB) kept their respective places on the podium. The world champion Sophie Christiansen (GRB) obtained a score of 75.739 %, giving her a good lead in front of her closest rival Laurentia Tan (SIN) to whom the jury awarded 72.696 %. LJT Lucas Normark ridden by a pillar of the British team Anne Dunham performed a test that was awarded 71.565 % which allowed the pair to climb on to the third step of the podium and guaranteed them a place to ride in the Freestyle.

GRADE II : VICTORY FOR REBECCA HART
Second yesterday, first today, Rebecca Hart (USA) took the top place with a score of 71.371 %. Partnering Schroeters Romani, 2016 is starting strongly for them, as the couple have cumulated nearly ten first places in team and individual competitions since the beginning of the year.
Demi Vermeulen (NED) riding Burberry celebrated her 21st birthday with second place having ridden a test that was rewarded with a score of 70.914 %. Rixt Van Der Horst and Uniek Nop (NED), winners of yesterday’s Team Test lost two places but stayed on the podium thanks to a score of 69.943 %.
